Support
Our service users are diverse and have varied needs, some are recovering from drugs and alcohol problems. some may only need short-term support such as intervention, signposting and advice, while other needs may be more complex and require a more continuous support, such as service user with mental issues.
Background to Supports
Our primary service users are made vulnerable due to barriers within society, hence they are less likely to have easy access to a range of services required to support meaningful integration and stopping them from reoffending. Part of Naskam support role is to help them to bridge gaps, access critical services and reintegrate back into society.
We provide support for independent living, skills development, educational training, support into employment, debt management, finance and budgeting skills, physical and mental health support
About our Supports
At NasKam we deliver courses, that focuses on building the individual self-esteem and educational achievement who were not confident to engage in education, educational environments, providing courses in numeracy and literacy.
In our social rehabilitation programs, our key areas of focus include:
Volunteering, Mentoring, and Befriending;
help clients in looking at alternative routes to employment.
Help them to identify employment opportunities
Help them to develop a homelessness prevention strategy
Support clients to engage with our services Debt repayment that will prevent the pain of homelessness
Tenancy support
Develop Education, Employment and Training Programs:
NasKam aims to engage it Service Users with a focus on occupation, paid and unpaid, focusing on multiple pathways to employment. Recognising that sustainable change is built around tackling the causes of poverty, achieving financial independence and ending the culture of dependence.
Volunteering
Volunteering is an intrinsic aspect of NasKam Services and is one of the fundamental aspects of the services. We also focus on peering mentoring by individuals who themselves have experienced the harshness of being homeless.
Strategic Contribution
Providing a roof over Service Users head is a means to an end. It will provide the stability to addressing the causes of homelessness and to equip people with the social, emotional and practical skills for independent sustainable living, enabling individuals to contribute to society rather than being dependent on the Welfare system. NasKam Strategies is focus centred on reducing homelessness, Substance Misuse, Alcohol Misuse, and Mental Health, NasKam understand that, unless these risks are acknowledged and acted on the need for vulnerable people to have good quality housing”, the challenges our Service Users faces on a daily basis will be continuously revolving
